Dave Glock  (from August 2005 Newsletter):

One of the best resources that the Emmaus Ministries Resources department has is Dave Glock. Dave brings a wealth of biblical knowledge, administrative ability and years of experience as an elder to his various roles in EMR. He is the editor of Journey magazine, responsible for planning Faculty Seminars, theological symposiums and the ISI conferences, and developing new tools to assist assemblies in the challenges they face.

Dave is a graduate of EBC (’61), Philadelphia College of the Bible and Dallas Theological Seminary where he received his Th.M. in New Testament Greek. Since 1968 he has taught at Emmaus and from the early 70’s until 2001 he served as Academic Dean. It was Dave’s vision that was realized when Emmaus moved its campus from Oak Park, IL to Dubuque in 1984. It was during his tenure as Dean that Emmaus attained accreditation with the Assocation for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE) and became a four year, degree-granting institution

Dave and Melsie (Rode ’59) have four grown children (all EBC alums): Barb Crabb (’83), Lois Manning (’83), Linda Johnson (’84), and Jon (’87). Emmaus runs in the Glock family: Dave’s son-in-law, Arthur Manning, is a faculty member in the computer department, and his son, Jon, has been appointed Dean for Student Affairs. Melsie volunteers as a special events advisor, helping student committees plan banquets and other affairs.

Interestingly enough, while Dave is noted for his vision and “forward thinking,” he has a great love and knowledge of history. Two of his favorite historical characters are Martin Luther and John Quincy Adams. In fact, if you have any questions about the first 6 U.S. presidents or colonial America, Dave can probably answer them. And he is eminently qualified to give guided, educational tours of Williamsburg, VA.
