Sue Weigert (from March 2004)

In fourth grade, Sue Weigert already knew what she wanted to be when she grew up: a school teacher. “No other job has the same potential to influence people the way a teacher does,” she says. Born and raised in Michigan, Sue came to faith in Christ as a young girl when a friend invited her to church.

Pursuing her goal of becoming a teacher, Sue got her B.S. from Seattle Pacific University, and her M.A. and Ed. Specialist from Middle Tennessee University. She has taught school in 7 different states, finally settling down in Tennessee. Sue is married to Ed and she has 5 grown children and 8 grandchildren. Before coming to Emmaus, she worked as an assistant principal in 2 different schools. Sue has extensive experience and skill in working with special education children, and in reading, and language arts.

In 1998, Sue’s long-time desire to be involved in fulltime ministry came true when she joined the growing Teacher Education program at Emmaus. She teaches a number of different education classes but her favorite is Children’s Literature. “It’s a privilege to teach here,” Sue says. “It’s wonderful to see the growth and progress in a student’s life all the way from freshman to graduation. We work hard with our El Ed students to prepare them to glorify God through the teaching profession.”
